We want our leaders to be the best and that’s why we support many progressive leadership programs.
The Foundation helped pay for 12 teachers to attend the summer leadership institute at Disney, including registration, hotel fees and travel expenses. These teachers worked all year to develop the leadership curriculum for students who attended from across the US. The program was implemented in seven schools.
Ron Clark School Leadership Visit
The Foundation funded registration for Chapin Elementary teachers and administrators to visit Ron Clark School in Atlanta. Here they gained ideas for a school-wide leadership program to be implemented among students and teachers.
Leader in Me Training
The Foundation funded professional development for all faculty and staff, including cafeteria workers, bus drivers and teachers amongst others. This school-wide package program continues for three years and pays for trainers to educate staff for the Leadership Magnet School.
Professional Development for Teachers
We sponsored the district STEAM (Science & Technology interpreted through Engineering & the Arts, all based in Mathematical elements) conference that provided professional development for all district teachers. This well-attended, day-long instructional workshop held at Irmo High School helped bridge the gap between business and educational goals and bring industry, government, education and the community together. The Foundation helped organize business donations.
We helped fund the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program. Students earn points when they exhibit positive behavior. Those points can be used to purchase supplies for school, healthy snacks or other personal items.
Our organization has funded annual luncheons for retirees of the entire school district to honor their service and support district unity. Approximately 350 retirees come each year.
Uniting all schools in the District, Teachers of the Year from the current and previous year along with elected officials gather for an evening of dining together and discussing pertinent issues.
